Senior Quality Control Technician Position

Internal Job Profile Title: Microbiology Technician

Location: Swindon UK

Position Summary

Participate in our dedicated Microbiology Quality Control team at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. where your expertise is crucial in advancing our goal of encouraging a healthier cleaner and safer world.

As a Senior QC Technician you will be tasked with conducting crucial microbiological tests to maintain product quality and adhere to cGMP regulations within a fast-paced and cooperative work environment. This position is perfect for those who prioritize precision teamwork and constant development.

About the Swindon Site

Located on Kingfisher Drive our Swindon facility is one of Thermo Fishers key centres for sterile manufacturing and quality control.

This modern high-volume site has a strong legacy in pharmaceutical production supporting the development and manufacture of sterile dosage forms vaccines and advanced therapies.

What Youll Do

  • Perform routine sampling and microbiological testing in accordance with company standards.

  • Document all work accurately to meet quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Adhere to cGMP regulations departmental protocols and site policies.

  • Meet testing deadlines and proactively communicate any issues that may affect timelines.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to ensure smooth workflow and knowledge sharing.

  • Support and promote a safe working environment by adhering to all EH&S policies and guidelines.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to team problem-solving.

  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and follow through to completion.

Health Safety & Environment

  • Actively participate in maintaining a safety-first culture.

  • Follow emergency procedures and safe systems of work at all times.

  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) requirements.

  • Report and help resolve any safety concerns near misses or incidents promptly.

What You Bring

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.

  • Minimum of 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) in science-related subjects.

  • Previous laboratory or QC experience within a regulated or GMP environment.

  • Understanding of cGMP principles (training provided where required).

  • Strong attention to detail organizational and communication skills.

  • Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Comfortable working to critical deadlines in a dynamic environment.
