The Financial Management Section (FMS) of the Finance and Business Operations Division (FBOD) seeksa sharp problem solverwho is highly proficient in the technology used by large organizationsto support complex accounting operations as Financial Systems and Services Team (FSST) Supervisor. Our ideal candidate is a leader who thinks about problems holistically understands the technologies that drive modern business processes and can lead the effort to bring standardization to an interconnected web of financial business processes and data using Oracle and supporting technologies.

The FSST Supervisor provides guidance and support to a team of eight (8) functional analysts and project managers who train configure test and process transactions within the countys finance applications. Working hand-in-hand with the countys technologists this team improves business processes and the technology supporting those processes across the countys 61 lines of business. The ideal candidate combines end-user technology acumen a passion for supporting County agency delivery of community programs through strong partnerships and strong leadership skills to bring out the best in their team. Leadership in County government includes managing a diverse group while exemplifying fairness strong listening skills approachability and promoting a cooperative work environment. The Financial Management Section is part of the larger Finance and Business Operations Divisionportfolio of countywide services. Scope of Job Duties

  • Hire coach train and motivate the team. Prioritize and identify workload provide feedback and recognize accomplishments. Conduct performance evaluations monitor work quality and quantity establish performance metrics and coach based on those metrics. Discuss individual performance with employees and recommend training and development plans.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the FMS management team and FBOD extended leadership team to coordinate activities of the unit with others in FMS and FBOD providing the best customer experience possible.
  • Provide thought leadership within FMS on how the unit using its deep core competencies in applying technology to solve business problems can improve the work environment and quality of the work product across FMS. Take the lead in defining the role of artificial intelligence scripting data warehousing analysis and other tools with broad applicability across the section.
  • Facilitate process improvement using LEAN principles and techniques to provide an environment where engaged team members work collaboratively to create memorable experiences for the units customers.
  • Develop implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance to applicable laws and best practices.
  • Lead business process improvement and standardization using technology and other tools.
  • Assist and guide County agencies in the analysis research and resolution of complex accounting issues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience leading or supervising coaching and motivating team members to work to their full potential and capabilities with the ability to create a positive work environment within a team.
  • Experience providing enterprise resource planning (we use Oracle EBS) system functional and/or operational support.
  • Experience building trusted partnerships with internal and external customers through transparency exceptional customer service and resolving differences respectfully.
  • Ability to think strategically and be analytical when understanding problems and anticipating potential issues while seeing the big picture.
  • Support FBODs culture of continuous improvement in all aspects of our operations including transparent goal-setting visual management of current state compared to goal/target idea generation and prioritization measuring successes celebration of accomplishments and turning times when things dont go as planned into learning opportunities.
  • Strong communication interpersonal writing and customer service skills.
  • Expert level of desktop technology proficiency including experience using advanced MS Office productivity tools in your daily work.
  • Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously meet quick deadlines and produce timely and quality work products.
  • Ability and dedication to incorporating equity and social justice principles into service delivery.


We would love it if you have:

  • Experience with LEAN processes and principles
  • Experience with SharePoint MS Teams and other collaborative online tools
  • Experience with Groovy Python Visual BASIC for Applications or other scripting languages
  • Experience with low-code applications like Oracle APEX Microsoft Power Automate and Microsoft PowerApps

Position Information:

  • Work Site Details:The team works in a hybrid model with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change.The primary onsite location is King Street Center 201 S. Jackson Seattle Washington 98104.Please reach out for additional details at the contact below.
  • Location Requirement:Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
  • Work Schedule:This position is Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is NOT overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule every other Thursday comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Union Representation:This position is not represented.

Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop. When working remotely employees must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours and follow FBODs hybrid/remote Guidelines including on-camera participation during virtual video meetings.

tools and resourcesto support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the departments hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hour
