In this role youll work on cutting-edge technology that makes a real-world impact - from developing our visual inspection platform to creating autonomous systems that operate in some of the worlds most challenging environments. Youll have the opportunity to see your work in action through field trials and real-world deployments all while working in a collaborative hybrid environment in central Bristol.
This role focuses on the development of autonomous systems to address real-world challenges in maritime robotics. Responsibilities include designing implementing and testing perception navigation planning exploration and control systems for robotic systems operating in complex environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering production-level autonomy solutions working across the entire robotics systems development lifecycle from design integration and testing to deployment and real-world trials.
You will help deliver high-quality solutions through peer reviews continuous improvement and effective use of continuous integration pipelines. Leveraging your understanding of cutting-edge research you will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Robotics Software Engineering and Machine Learning to translate novel ideas into tangible products.

Design and implement navigation planning exploration and control systems for robotic vehicles that inspect underwater structures.
Participate in field trials testing systems in real-world conditions.

Essential skills that you bring:
Proven track record in delivering successful robotic products and solutions.
Strong understanding of robotics principles including vehicle dynamics control algorithms sensor fusion and state estimation.
Proficiency in ROS2 and Linux/Ubuntu environments with integration and deployment experience.
Experience with tools such as OpenCV PCL Eigen Numpy and Docker
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Experience with field trials and testing robotic systems in real-world conditions.
Desirable skills that you have:
Experience in developing and deploying ML-based solutions in relevant robotics domains such as perception control and decision making.
Experience with robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo NVidia Isaac or PyBullet.
Experience working in the maritime industry.
Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
Experience in deploying robotics systems in remote or offshore environments.
