About the Role
The community educator will work in collaboration with the Mental Health Education Team Leader and Senior Psychiatric Nurse in an effort to support staff across SVMH service ensuring high standards education programs are developed to promote best practice with a focus on strengths-based recovery.

  • Provide supervision and advice to undergraduates graduate post graduate nurses in relation to their academic progress and course regulations.

  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of training programs for undergraduates postgraduates RPNs and allied health as necessary.

  • Contribute to the on-going development of nursing education and practice by having input to internal and external committees and working parties


Classifications for this position will range from NP75-NP77

Your Contribution

  • Degree or postgraduate diploma in psychiatric/mental health nursing

  • Completed or working towards a higher degree in nursing or relevant area

  • Desirable: Completed or working towards a Certificate 4 Training and Assessment or equivalent

  • Demonstrated minimum 5 years experience in clinical leadership and mental health service provision within community mental health settings

St. Vincents Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. Two community mental health services in Kew (Hawthorn clinic) and East Melbourne (Clarendon clinic). Community mental health services comprise the Triage and Crisis assessment and Treatment (CAT) service Extended Triage and The Primary Intervention Care Team (PICT) and HOPE (Suicide Prevention) Continuing Care (CCT) Mobile Support and Treatment (MST) and Homeless Outreach (CHOPS) services.
