Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

TeHerenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting Kaiwhakaako - Teaching Fellows for LAWS297 - Introduction to Legal Skills to join Te Kauhanganui Tātai Ture - Faculty of Law on a fixed-term part-time basis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation for teaching in LAWS297.
  • Attendance at any LAWS297 planning and moderation meetings library training sessions and CAD Introduction to Tutoring/Marking and Feedback Training as required.
  • Preparation and delivery of weekly seminars.
  • Marking two legal writing exercises an advocacy report and written and oral moot submissions in accordance with Faculty guidelines and within the timeframes specified by the Course Coordinator.
  • Assisting with the scheduling of seminars and moots.
  • Student consultation as necessary.
  • Participation in the demonstration moot as required.
  • Providing feedback to students as to their progress in the course (and marking any resubmitted exercises).

Ō pūmanawa - About you

Key requirements:

  • High level of academic achievement at LLB/LLB (Hons) level or higher.
  • Expertise in the core legal skills of legal research legal writing legal analysis and advocacy particularly with a focus on these skills in an Aotearoa New Zealand setting.
  • Demonstrated evidence of very strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Availability to run seminars during normal teaching periods.
