Each and everyday girls and boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship. An increasing number of kids are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need toknow they have a place in their community where they can go. Clubs provide a safe haven for youth allow them to meet with friends and be a part of positive peer groups. Club programs teach life skills conflict resolution and focus on the development of character. Clubs also provide members with positive role models and a nurturing environment that help improve decision-making skills.
Position Summary
The Family Service Coordinator (FSC) plays a critical role in supporting children and families enrolled in the Delaware Early Childhood Assistance Program (ECAP) a Head Start-model initiative that promotes school readiness for children from low-income families. Under general supervision the FSC serves as the liaison between the family the program and community resources to ensure that children receive the comprehensive services they need to succeed in school and life.
The FSC is responsible for building strong respectful partnerships with families; conducting needs assessments and goal-setting; and connecting families to health mental health nutrition education and social services. The FSC also monitors family progress documents case information and contributes to program compliance with state and federal performance standards.
  • Recruit and enroll eligible children and families into the ECAP program.
  • Conduct family intake interviews assessments and individualized family partnership agreements.
  • Collaborate with families to set achievable goals and provide ongoing support in achieving them.
  • Maintain up-to-date accurate documentation in accordance with ECAP and Boys & Girls Clubs Performance Standards.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up services for health screenings behavioral health dental care housing employment and other needs.
  • Advocate for families while fostering self-sufficiency and empowerment.
  • Facilitate parent engagement in program governance workshops and activities.
  • Partner with teaching staff health personnel and community agencies to ensure holistic child and family development.
  • Participate in case reviews home visits trainings and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Maintain records and keep accurate documentation of sessions meetings or other communications appropriate to ethical and professional standards and observe client confidentiality.
Perform other related duties as assigned or prescribed by the Childcare Director to support the overall goals and operations of the ECAP program.
Qualifications & Education Requirements Educational Requirement:
  • A Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work Human Services Family Services Counseling or related field.
  • Valid drivers license.
Competencies/Skills/Experience:
  • Previous experience with high-risk population and their families.
  • Previous experience working with early childhood through elementary age children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and rapport; ability to adapt and be flexible.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy; information gathering and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently and possess flexibility personal integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across cultures ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic groups.
  • Experience in conducting training and familiarity with adult learning styles.
  • Have strong knowledge of community resources and how to make necessary referrals.
  • Understand high quality early childhood standards.

  • Conduct Community and home visits.
WorkHours:Monday- Friday between the hours of 8:00AM- 6:00PM. Flexibility to work split shift as needed. Time will be split between the Smyrna Clayton and the Greater Dover locations.
