Western National Mutual Insurance Company is seeking to expand its IT Platforms team by adding a Site Reliability Intern. Our company growth combined with our focus on innovation transformation and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of our team. The Site Reliability Intern will provide support to a variety of projects and initiatives while playing a key role in our day-to-day operations.

Western National Intern Program Summary:

Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our IT Platforms team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Position Summary:

As a Site Reliability Intern in our internship program you will be a key contributor to our IT Platforms team. Possible tasks that you assist with include:

• Troubleshooting and maintaining Kubernetes and Docker container workloads.
• Deploying configuring and maintaining AWS resources.
• Creating dashboards and alerts to monitor platform infrastructure and running workloads.
• Writing and applying Terraform to maintain infrastructure as code.
• Leveraging and maintaining CICD Gitlab Pipelines to automate workflows.

What Youll Need to Succeed:

• 12 years of foundational programming experience.
• Experience in system administration including installing and configuring operating systems.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure AWS or similar environments.
• Excellent time management and the ability to complete projects and assignments to meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to listen and ask pertinent questions to gain understanding.
• Proficient use of various core systems office and computer equipment and software packages.
• Two years of college preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details.
• Ability to follow process.

Compensation Overview:

The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
