Are you an experienced Equipment Operator who takes pride in keeping streets sidewalks and neighborhoods safe and well-maintained The City of Fountain Valley is looking for a skilled Equipment Operator IIto join our Public Works this vital role youll operate a variety of light medium and heavy equipment to improve and maintain our communitys infrastructure - everything from paving streets and repairing sidewalks to painting school crosswalks and changing street name signs.
Our street crew has a total of seven staff members who work collaboratively with other Public Works crews as well as other City departments such as the Police Department Recreation and Community Services. This is more than just operating equipment - its about serving the community you live in working outdoors and being part of a dedicated team that keeps Fountain Valley a great place to live work and play. This position performs the following essential functions:
EDUCATION:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a position equivalent to an Equipment Operator I (including experience operating a variety of equipment such as asphalt rollers paving machines graders traffic painting equipment root pruners aerial trucks concrete saws and related equipment.
A valid California Class A Commercial Drivers License (with airbrake and manual transmissions) is required at the time of appointment (or obtained within the probationary period) as a condition of employment. Tanker endorsement is highly desirable.
Possession of OSHA competence certification for trench shoring is desirable.
