EXAMNINATION SCHEDULE:
- Written Exam:will be conducted on November 6 2025
Examination:Written Exam (100%): May include knowledge of the interviewing techniques; basic socioeconomic principles; program terminology; applicable programs; customer service principles; community resources; basic mathematical principles; alphabetical and chronological filing methods; applicable policies and procedures public relations and public speaking methods; telephone etiquette and other relevant subjects.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards:
High School Diploma G.E.D. or equivalent and completion of sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter units from an accredited college or university with 9 semester or 16 quarter units in Behavioral Science or related field AND one (1) year of full time paid experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
(Qualifying related work experience may include verifying documents to determine eligibility for benefits social services and/or employment; conducting needs assessments; making referrals for services; classroom instruction and interviewing clients.)
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Drivers License.

Admittance to the examinationwill require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
A background check may be conducted for this classification.
Following an offer of employmentyou may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at county expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointments will be made for the Kern County Probation Department. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Candidates are encouraged to indicate all geographical locations and assignments in which they would accept employment on their application form. CandidatesMUSTbe willing to travel to these locations (areas/district offices).
