Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if youre near one) at home or a bit of both its up to you.
What youd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think thats all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things youll be working on when you start but this will likely evolve.
At the moment this role is focused on:
- Develop shared frontend frameworks and component libraries used by all product teams.
- Build tools and infrastructure that streamline development workflows and improve code quality.
- Identify and address frontend performance and scalability challenges.
- Collaborate with design system and product teams to ensure accessibility consistency and reliability.
- Lead technical design discussions and advocate for frontend best practices.
- Mentor engineers and help grow Canvas frontend community of practice.
Youre probably a match if
- 5 years of experience developing large-scale frontend applications.
- Expertise in Javascript React TypeScript and modern build tools (Webpack Vite etc.).
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture performance optimisation and accessibility.
- Experience building shared frameworks design systems or developer tooling.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills you enjoy partnering across disciplines.
- Solid understanding of data structures algorithms and performance trade-offs in browser environments.
- Bonus: Interest or experience in integrating AI capabilities into user experiences (e.g. generative design features intelligent UI assistance or adaptive UX systems).

The Product Platform SG focuses on empowering engineers by creating shared backend and frontend frameworks APIs and developer tools that simplify product delivery and improve consistency across the Canva ecosystem.
About the Role
As a Senior Frontend Engineer in the Product Platform SG youll design and develop the shared libraries frameworks and tooling that support all Canva product surfaces. Youll work on improving developer experience performance and architecture across our frontend ecosystem. This is a high-leverage role that impacts hundreds of engineers and billions of user interactions.
