Job Summary

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in supervision and management business administration student personnel services or related field
  • Two (2) years of related work experience coordinating and/or implementing student retention services and case management in a professional environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact and resource for first-generation A.A. and A.S. students using a case management approach to identify barriers connect students to college and community resources and support retention and graduation. Provide timely communications each semester to these students regarding key deadlines events resources and planning events specifically for first-generation students. Provide regular outreach to these students maintain accurate records and document all interactions in PeopleSoft and other college electronic databases and systems.
  • Serve as the primary contact and liaison for foster youth and homeless students using a case management approach to assess needsidentifybarriers and connect students to college and community resources. Support retention and graduation for these students through regular outreach timely communication about deadlines and referrals to college and community resources. Maintain accurate records and document all interactions in PeopleSoft and other college electronic databases and systems.
  • Serve as a member of the Colleges Retention Committee. Attends meetings to exchange information and support retention initiatives. Promotes services programs activities and projects within the college community to assist first-generation college students foster youth and homeless student populations. Collaborates with Academic Affairs Enrollment Services and Student Development to provide workshops presentations and special events to assist with student retention. Collaborate with the Colleges TRiO program to provide additional opportunities to increase retention.
  • Facilitate New Student Advising Sessions. Implement a follow-up process with students after these Advising sessions and provide referrals to other College departments as needed to support the Colleges retention efforts and student success. Coordinate with faculty and staff to provide mentoring opportunities for students. Serve as Club Advisor for the Falcon First-Generation Success student club. Serve as student employee Supervisor for the Falcon Hope Center. Provide assistance to Student Development as required for events activities and student support.
  • Maintain qualitative and quantitative student progress and compiles data for weekly monthly and annual reporting. Maintain data for programs and data for student participation in workshops events and activities for reporting as required. Input and retrieve data from the Colleges PeopleSoft computer system and other college electronic databases and systems. Effective use of appropriate college software systems to respond to Early Alerts follow up with faculty and students and track and monitor students academic progress.
  • Work collaboratively with Enrollment Services departments to include Admissions Records/Registration Student Accounts Financial Aid & Academic Advising to assist first-generation college students foster youth and homeless student populations with the transition into college. Required to work in the Enrollment Services Division to assist with Academic Advising and Registration during peak registration periods in August and January and any other times as assigned by the Supervisor.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of student advising academic monitoring and student follow-up procedures.
  • Strong experience in report writing as well as proficiency in Excel and computer database systems.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multiple task environment.
  • Maintain positive relations with students and staff.
