Your Future in this Role:You will partner with our labor relations team members to quickly get up to speed. Within a short time you will become a trusted advisor to County leadership and employees.
Throughout the training process you will meet with your supervisor regularly to discuss expectations and set goals for yourself as well as be introduced to the Countys Administrative Guidelines EEO/ADA policies and related procedures. Pierce County also supports professional development through resources such as LinkedIn Learning the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) training institute and other EEO/ADA-focused organizations and conferences to ensure your continued success in this specialized role.
Core Responsibilities:
- Serve as Pierce Countys designated EEO/ADA Officer and provide subject matter expertise to departments employees and leadership including workplace modifications policy interpretation and risk mitigation.
- Conduct complex and sensitive investigations related to complaints of discrimination harassment retaliation and other violations of federal state and local civil rights laws.
- Interview complainants respondents witnesses supervisors and other relevant parties; review applicable documentation and records; assess evidence; and determine validity of charges.
- Review research and coordinate timely responses to complaints filed with regulatory agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Washington State Human Rights Commission.
- Facilitate and manage the Countys interactive processes for disability accommodations in accordance with the ADA and Washington Law Against Discrimination (WLAD).
- Review and evaluate medical documentation analyze essential job functions and recommend appropriate accommodations.
- Ensure compliance with reasonable accommodation requirements and prepare appropriate correspondence documentation and follow-up.
- Provide consultation and training to County departments on EEO ADA workplace equity and civil rights-related topics including prevention of harassment and discrimination.
- Assist in the development review and revision of County policies procedures and guidelines related to nondiscrimination disability accommodation and workplace conduct.
- Prepare EEO regulatory reports and maintain data for internal and external compliance reporting including federal or grant funding requirements.
- Represent the County in administrative proceedings and collaborate with legal counsel as necessary.

Qualifications
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in EEO and ADA compliance or a closely related human resources or legal field including experience conducting investigations analyzing data and providing recommendations.
- Postsecondary education may substitute for up to four (4) years of the required experience on a year for-year basis.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position may be considered
