Job Duties:

The Department of Educational Studies (EDS) at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is seeking applicants for two(2) academic year (9-month) tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor or Assistant Professor with the start date of August 2026. We encourage applications from candidates with expertise in Early Childhood and Special Education. Come join a community of teacher/scholars committed to student success.

Under general supervision of the department chair successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students. In addition to preparing for and holding classes teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment evaluating students work assessing student outcomes providing regular and substantive feedback on student work maintaining appropriate records and holding office hours. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active on-going program of scholarship appropriate to their discipline. In addition faculty provide service to the department college university community and/or professional organizations. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

School of Education faculty and instructional staff are expected to be engaged in service and scholarly activities that inform and enhance the work they do with prospective teachers. Some additional work hours outside the academic school year may be required in order to align duties with the K-12 school year.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in early childhood education or special education or related field. ABD will be considered. The degree must be earned by the end of the first academic year.
  • Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
  • Certification in early childhood education and/or special education with licensure range that includes early elementary grades
  • A combination of early childhood and/or special education teaching experience in U.S. PK-3 or comparable schools that adds up to at least three years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervision of pre-service teachers
  • Experience with co-teaching
  • Experience teaching students with disabilities in inclusive educational settings
  • Experience teaching/working in linguistically culturally and economically diverse settings
