Metro South Health is offering a dedicated First Nations Allied Health New Graduate position within Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS). This two-year development role blends cultural support and professional supervision across CYMHS programs to build confident job-ready clinicians who can deliver safe strengths-based care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children young people and families.
Youll provide assessment education therapeutic interventions and discharge planning in an interprofessional team while growing your skills through rotations supervision and targeted learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver discipline-specific assessment intervention and review in a client-centred culturally safe way.
- Manage a balanced caseload with timely documentation statistics and outcome measures.
- Engage respectfully with young people families carers and community supports to co-create care plans.
- Participate in case conferences team meetings and service collaborations across CYMHS.
- Contribute to quality improvement and research activities under guidance from senior staff.
- Provide routine guidance and support to students and allied health assistants as appropriate.

- Emerging clinician who communicates clearly and works well in multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated cultural integrity humility and commitment to safe care for mob.
- Ready to learn quickly take on feedback and grow clinical capability in child & youth mental health.
Mandatory Requirements (Identified)
- This is an Identified positionopen to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
- Eligible qualifications/registration for your profession (one of):
- Occupational Therapist: Tertiary OT degree registration with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Social Worker: Tertiary Social Work degree AASW eligibility (overseas grads require AASW certification of eligibility).
- Psychologist (General): APAC-accredited 4-year qualification provisional or general registration with AHPRA Psychology Board (endorsement/supervisor status desirable but not mandatory).
- Blue Card (Working with Children).
- VPD vaccinations (MMR Varicella Pertussis Hepatitis B).
- Class C drivers licence for community/outreach work.
