Job Summary

Overview:

The Forklift Operator II is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts to support production storage and shipping operations. This position requires advanced forklift skills the ability to train and mentor new operators and a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Operators will transport palletized fruit and other commodities support department workflows and contribute to a culture of accountability and teamwork.

ESSENTIAL DUITES AND RESPONISBILITIES:                                                                           

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Demonstrate and enforce the highest standards of safe equipment operation.
  • Operates all types of forklifts within the facility in a safe and professional manner.
  • Transport palletized fruit and/or other commodities between set-off storage packing cold storage and loading areas as needed.
  • Assist with and lead in-house forklift operator training coach and mentor others on safety performance and work practices.
  • Apply learning principles to ensure effective training and skill retention.
  • Performs preventative maintenance checks (cleaning fluids belts hoses hydraulics).
  • Understand and utilize Oracle Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); train others as needed.
  • Develop and follow standard work processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Adhere to production schedules and conveyance routes within established cycle times.
  • Communicate with multiple departments regarding schedules product flow and operational issues.
  • Tracks downtime put-away work orders and production costs/results.
  • Submit work requests for repairs and recommend alternative solutions when equipment is down.
  • Participate in root cause analysis problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Conduct daily 5S audits of cleanliness and organization in assigned areas.
  • Support the EHS team in hazard identification risk mitigation and fostering a culture of safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance certifications and evaluations.
  • Contribute to High Performance Work Teams emphasizing ownership and accountability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Heres what well bring to the table:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of production operations experience with forklift operation and safety knowledge preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Ability to read write and interpret oral and written instructions.
  • Strong math skills with the ability to calculate loads and interpret bills of lading.
  • Strong communication skills (email telephone radio and written notes).
  • Demonstrated precision attention to detail and safety focus.
  • Ability to train and mentor others effectively.
  • Adaptable to new technologies methods and innovations.
  • Experience writing reports business correspondence or procedures a plus.

  • Regularly required to stand walk sit talk and hear.
  • Use of hands for handling objects tools or controls; climbing or balancing.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in production/warehouse and cold storage environments.
  • Noise level is generally moderate but may vary based on production activity.

Pay Rate: $19.70 per hour
