About the Role
Our Client is seeking a Utility Coordinator to join our South and North Carolina Utilities Team in our Columbia office. The Utility Coordinator plays a critical role in planning and design phases of roadway and bridge improvement projects by coordinating utility relocations and collaborating with utility owners DOTs counties and municipalities.
This role requires strong technical and communication skills the ability to review engineering plans and designs and proficiency with design software for creating accurate utility plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse survey data blueprints aerial photography and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) plans.
- Organize and verify design information from multiple utility sources to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Contact and coordinate with utility owners for relocation efforts.
- Conduct meetings with stakeholders to meet project milestones.
- Prepare Utility by Others (UBO) plans and associated documentation using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
- Maintain favourable relationships with utility companies DOTs counties and municipal agencies.
- Perform out-of-town travel (10%) as needed to support projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (advanced education preferred).
- 24 years of experience in utility coordination and/or design particularly in roadway or bridge projects.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and MicroStation; familiarity with other design software is a plus.
- Strong oral written and technical communication skills.
- SC DOT experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Utility Coordination and Construction Inspection in South or North Carolina.
- Knowledge of SCDOT or NCDOT standards and processes.
- Familiarity with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) plans and utility relocation processes.
