Position Summary
The Depot Repair Technician manages all incoming capital equipment at our Hauppauge NY depot location. This includes receiving evaluating and repairing/refurbishing (or returning to a third-party repair facility) and then returning equipment to the Customer. This role also handles all administrative work in the process including Customer quotes. The Depot Repair Technician coordinates between all parties involved communicating directly with STERIS Field Reps and the STERIS Technical Support team and directly with Customers through each step in the process.
What You Will Do As a Repair Technician
- Receive all equipment sent to the depot (both Customer-owned and STERIS loaner equipment) and followdisinfection sterilization and decontamination procedures
- Troubleshoot repair and/or perform preventative maintenance on equipment including both mechanical/electrical work and troubleshooting/loading/upgrading of software as needed.
- Perform disassembly reassembly replacement or repair of defective parts; this may require modification rewiring or manufacturing replacement components.
- Test equipment and install engineering and specification changes in accordance with technical documentation.
- Prepare and maintain reports on repairs and in-process inspections related to testing and visual workmanship.
- Manage the process to have Customer-owned and/or STERIS loaner equipment repaired by 3rd party repair companies.
- Prepare Customer repair estimates obtain authorization for billable repairs and provide Customers with ongoing status reports of all work being done.
- Order and maintain inventory of necessary repair parts for all STERIS capital equipment products.

The Experience Skills and Abilities Needed
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of paid (verifiable) work experience diagnosing and troubleshooting both hardware and software issues on complex devices is required. (Examples of relevant devices include PCs laptops cell phones and home electronics.)
- Ability to solve complex mechanical/systems problems by utilizing technical manuals publications and engineering support
- Knowledge of diagnostics troubleshooting and inspection techniques
- Proficiency in providing both system software and hardware upgrades to equipment
- Strong hand/eye coordination (manual dexterity)
- Attention to detail excellent organization skills
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Strong Customer Service focus
Pay range for this opportunity is $23.00/hour - $28.00/hour. This position is eligible forbonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors including but not limited to local labor market costs years of relevant experience education professional certifications foreign language fluency etc.
