About Our Opportunity

As the Manager of Information Health and Safety you are accountable for the effective planning and delivery of a specialized portfolio of programs and services focused on Information Management (IM) Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP). This role ensures services are delivered in compliance with legislation within budget and aligned with departmental strategy.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Deliver elements of strategic planning systems and recommend improvements to policies processes and standards to support departmental operations.
  • Provide guidance to staff on using data to support evidence-based decision-making in Internal Operations.
  • Lead the development and administration of an Information Management program aligned with government records management policies and legislation.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace by balancing business needs with staff safety through technical and strategic solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with IM and OH&S legislation and policies.
  • Monitor expenditures identify budgetary issues and recommend solutions to maintain fiscal accountability.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement guidelines and financial policies.
  • Set and evaluate team performance targets promote diversity and a healthy workplace and support individual development.
  • Plan and execute communication training and education strategies to evolve IM and OH&S disciplines.
  • Assist in the preparation evaluation and award of tenders for equipment software and professional services.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this opportunity you hold a university degree or community college diploma in a relevant discipline e.g. library and information management archives management information technology or public administration in addition toseveral years of records management experience.
This position requires expert knowledge of records management as well as experience in Occupational Health & Safety interpretation enforcement and compliance. It also requires a strong knowledge of business continuity leadership in planning and operations. Further the position requires the ability to provide strategic guidance on the use of the STAR/STOR systems.
In addition you are highly motivated and you have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). You also have the ability to supervise staff and interact effectively with stakeholders and senior leadership particularly in times of crisis. Partnering collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve common goals you apply the concepts of equity diversity and inclusion.
Strong planning organizational and administrative skills are importantin setting priorities meeting deadlines and managing multiple assignments. You also have strong critical thinking analytical and problem-solving in a Records Management Association Disaster Response Association &/or Health & Safety organization is an asset.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week 7 hours/day
  • Some overtime work required

  • Some lifting of boxes ladder use will be required

Pay Grade: EC 11

Salary Range: $3418.96- $4273.75Bi-Weekly
