The Research Department at the Mount Prospect Public Library is looking for a knowledgeable enthusiastic and tech-oriented library professional to fill the role of Technology Librarian. Join our dedicated team as the technology expert responsible for leading public programming and staff training providing tech and reference assistance to adults and teens and staying current with emerging technologies.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to providing excellent patron service expertise in instructing others in the use of software equipment and devices effective organizational skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
SCHEDULE: Full-time non-exempt. 37.5 hours per week.
Monday Tuesday Wednesday 9am to 5pm
Thursday 1pm to 9pm
Friday 9am to 5pm; once every 7 weeks 11am to 7pm
Participation in a weekend rotation approximately once every 4 weekends:Saturday 9am to 5pm& Sunday 11am to 5pm

PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Research Department Head the Technology Librarian is a member of a professional team that provides for the general information needs of the public. This position is also responsible for researching new technology trends and developing technology programming and services for the public and related training for staff. The Technology Librarian position includes staffing the public service desk answering reference and information questions collection development and providing outreach services and programming. Programming responsibilities include planning coordinating and presenting technology-related topics e.g. specific software applications platforms and devices. Networking and attendance at community events may also be expected.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Masters degree in library science from an ALA accredited library school (or equivalent education and work experience) required. Experience in a public service position.
