JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The College/Unit of IST is seeking applicants for part-time job of Graduate Assistant.
Job duties to include:
- Guide and execute development of a general data collection system that other researchers can use (incorporating both user-facing and researcher-facing elements).
- Develop wireframes and mockups of the system
- Guide software development with a team of engineers
- Design an evaluation study for the system to test for comprehensiveness and usability
- Write a research paper reporting on the process and evaluation
- Publish results (targeting spring 2026).
Requirements qualifications and/or competencies
- Must be a currently-enrolled graduate student in good standing (masters or doctoral level).
- Coursework or experience in relevant fields (data ethics HCI app development mobile software engineering computational social science etc) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal problem-solving and written/oral communication skills - This position will collaborate closely with research partners from other institutions other students and developers so the ability to work and problem solve with others is critical.
Technical skills:
- Must have experience with developing mobile applications on Android working with Gradle Java/XML and Google Play Console.
- Preference for experience with Flutter and Flutter plugins.
- Must have experience with backend frameworks such as: Phoenix/Elixir (preferred) Ruby on Rails Django etc.
- Must have strong technical communication skills for documenting and communicating with other project contributors and stakeholders.
