JOB SUMMARY
Perform journeyman-level welding fabrication and mechanical work in the repair maintenance and rebuilding of City-owned vehicles and equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or GED certification with completion of a program in welding from a vocational/technical school and a minimum of three (3) years experience as a welder; or any such combination of education experience and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.

American Welding Society GMAW D1.1 certification is desired.
|
Willing to work weekends holidays nights and extended hours in emergencies at times under adverse weather conditions.
|
Must possess hand tools up to 1 inch in size suitable for repair of light and heavy automotive and construction equipment.
|
Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire a valid Class B commercial drivers license with tanker endorsement. |

Competitive salary with other public and industry positions including step advancements.
The City participates in the South Dakota Retirement System. Employees receive a 6% match. Additionally employees may choose to enroll in a Deferred Compensation Plan.

11 paid holidays and 2 personal leave days each calendar year.
New employees are granted 40 hours of vacation at time of hire and accrue an additional 2 weeks in their first year.
Sick leave accrues over 96 hours per year.
