POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Asian Studies at The Pennsylvania State University University Park PA USA invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in modern and/or early modern Chinese literature and culture at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
We would be particularly interested in work that combines a strong grounding in Chinese literature with additional expertise in one or more fields such as pre-modern Chinese literature and thought modern Chinese intellectual history and/or philosophy visual and digital culture performance and theater studies Chinese diasporic and Sinophone literatures; or comparative literary perspectives on Southeast Asia South Asia Northeast Asia or Central Asia.
Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester during the academic year sustained and ongoing research in ones field and contributing to the graduate and undergraduate programs in Asian Studies (dual-title PhD and majors in Chinese Japanese and Korean and minors in Chinese Japanese Korean Asian Studies Global Asias and South Asian Studies). This position will include resident and online instruction and normal university service. Onsite teaching is an essential function of this job.
A Ph.D. in Chinese literature or related field is required by appointment date. Native or near-native ability in Chinese and English is required as well as relevant research achievements or evidence of relevant research promise; appropriate teaching experience.
