Remuneration: Band 4 salary from $78402.48 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO

About the role

The Animal Management Support Officer sits within our City Amenity and Safety department and works to provide support to the Animal Management Unit in meeting its obligations under the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and the Units Domestic Animal Management Plan.

In this role you will use your skills attention to detail and prior experience to undertake enforcement and education programs and activities aimed to achieve compliance with Councils Local Laws and improve community awareness and safety.

The animal team provides an afterhours emergency response service. You will be part of an afterhours and weekend roster to support the team in providing the service. A vehicle will be provided on site for work duties.

Please note that there is no work from home provision with this role.


What your day will look like

Attending residential locations and local vet practices for daily collections and impounding of stray/wandering cats and dogs

Assisting the pound with husbandry of impounded pets and other duties as required

Providing information to residents on compliance of Councils Local Laws and the Domestic Animals Act 1994

Providing information and education on responsible pet ownership and legislative requirements of owning a cat or dog in Wyndham

Data entry issuing notices and drafting letters



What you will bring

A relevant TAFE or equivalent certificate and/or related experience

Working knowledge of the relevant legislation

An understanding of animal behaviour and husbandry practices

Experience working in an animal keeping environment (desirable)

Current Victorian Drivers licence

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Previous experience in Local Government (desirable)
