Position Description Summary
Commonwealth Universitys Division of Theatre & Dance seeks applicants for temporary Theatre faculty positions (full-time one semester part-time one semester or part-time academic year) as needs arise. The mission of the Division of Theatre and Dance is to provide a strong undergraduate education in the theory and practice of theatre and dance to support the Universitys general education curriculum and to enhance the cultural life of the campus community. The divisions goal is to develop students working knowledge and application of historical and contemporary theories and practices in performance design and technology and dramatic and critical literature. We strive to develop artists who are imaginative critical thinkers and effective communicators producing art that celebrates humanity and challenges complacency. Duties
Based on the specific needs of the department at the time of appointment a successful applicant must be qualified to teach introductory and/or upper-level courses in theatre. Possible assignments include but are not limited to Theatre Appreciation; Fundamentals of Acting; Stage Combat; Auditioning; other specialized topics in performance design or production areas. Candidates should be prepared for the possibility of teaching select classes online and/or in a hybrid manner. The location for these temporary positions varies with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
