The Role

Researches develops designs and tests electrical components equipment systems and networks. Designs electrical equipment facilities components products and systems for commercial industrial and domestic purposes.

This position is intended for the advanced technology development groups in Department E11. The incumbent will be responsible for leading technical development of electrical components associated with advanced submarine propulsion plant designs. This position regularly communicates with Navy NAVSEA NNL and shipyard engineers and technical staff via various communication platforms.

Must Have

Bachelors Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Masters Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelors Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

-Strong technical background in submarine and/or aircraft carrier electrical system designs
-Demonstrated ability to propose new electrical system and component design ideas and then to lead a team of engineers in the conceptual design development testing and fielding of the final product
-Recognition in the shipbuilding technical community as a subject matter expert in electrical systems and/or power system components
