DEFINITION

Under supervision to perform a variety of clerical and office support duties of moderate difficulty and to perform related work as required.

Examples of Duties

Under direction performs general clerical work. Examples of duties may include but are not limited to; receiving and screening visitors telephone and radio calls records pertinent information and takes or routes messages; types formats edits proofreads files gathers and compiles correspondence reports forms and a variety of other documents related to the functions of the department or division; maintains records and processes forms; operates a computer and typewriter to produce a variety of documents; operates standard office equipment; and performs other related duties as required.

Typical Qualifications

LICENSE REQUIRED

Possession of a valid California Drivers License and a good driving record.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

Education equivalent to graduation from high school.

Experience:

None required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Basic word processing and computer skills Microsoft Word is preferred; excellent grammar and spelling skills.

Ability to:

Type at a corrected rate of forty-five (45) net wpm.

Oral interviews for the position will be administered in the City of Clovis. As determined by the City and at the Citys expense successful candidates shall be required to complete and pass a medical examination a drug/alcohol screen and a background investigation. Possession of a valid California Drivers License and a good driving record will be required prior to hire. Proof of citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S. will be required at the time of hire.
