The Opportunity

As a Backend Engineer youll be instrumental in architecting and developing the core systems that power our innovative legal platform. This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-paced growth-stage startup where your contributions directly shape the product and company trajectory. Youll work alongside a talented founding engineering team building scalable solutions that tackle complex industry challenges.

What Youll Do

• Architect scalable systems Design and implement high-performance backend infrastructure using Python Go Rust and WebAssembly
• Build cloud-native solutions Leverage AWS services including Amplify LightSail and Fargate to create robust secure and scalable infrastructure
• Manage data architecture Work across diverse database technologies including PostgreSQL MongoDB and vector databases
• Drive product impact Collaborate directly with the founding engineering team to ship high-impact features that delight users
• Shape the vision Contribute to product strategy and technical direction as an early team member with substantial influence

What Were Looking For

• Strong proficiency in backend development with Python Go or Rust
• Experience building and deploying systems on AWS infrastructure
• Solid understanding of both relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases
• Passion for writing clean maintainable and well-tested code
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
• Excellent problem-solving skills and technical communication
• Enthusiasm for tackling complex problems in the legal tech space

Bonus Points

• Experience with WebAssembly
• Familiarity with vector databases
• Previous startup or early-stage company experience
• Interest in legal technology or regulatory compliance
• Track record of shipping products from zero to one
