The Ohio Attorney Generals Office is currently seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual for Paralegal/Legal Assistant 1 for our Executive Agencies section. This position provides paralegal support and assists attorneys needed with cases. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule and will be headquartered in our Columbus office. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs.

The duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:

-Researches federal and/or state statutes recorded judicial decisions and other legal sources and reference materials in order to prepare responses to inquiries complaints claims and legal and/or administrative procedural issues to assist section attorneys.

-PerformsInternetandothercomputer-assistedsearchesforinformationanddocuments

-Assistsinthepreparationandpresentationofcasesinlitigationincludingdocumentreviewverificationandorganization

-Helpsprepareand respondtodiscoveryrequests andpublic recordsrequests

-Contacts opposing counsel or court/board personnel as may be necessary to assist in case preparation and presentationofcases

-Assesseslogsandindexesincomingandoutgoingelectronicandpaperdocumentproductions

-Uses document management software toprepare legalcorrespondence; uses casemanagement software

-Draftslegalbriefsandmemorandacontractspleadingsmotionsaffidavitslegislationrulesand/orregulations

-Prepares case summaries legal documents and reports for review approval and signature of and/or use by sectionattorneys

-Maintains case calendars and case files

-Manuallyand/orelectronicallyfileslegaldocumentswithcourtonbehalfofattorneys
