The Opportunity

The Research Unit Assistant provides support to the Research Nurses/Project Managers/Research Coordinators Director Clinical Operations and Principal Investigators with general study tasks as needed.

The Challenge Unit Research Assistant will perform a wide range of duties including some or all of the following: unit operational support source document maintenance maintaining filing system for documents internal/external communications source data verification and data entry and providing study management assistance to study team as needed.

Responsibilities:
Organize all study documents and file according to CCfV filing standard operating procedures (SOP)
Assist research team with administrative study tasks as needed
Perform follow-up calls to study participants and/or families; liaise between study participants and/or families and research staff
Verify the source documentation and complete electronic Case Report Forms (eCRF) data entry
Track inventory and order study supplies as needed
Attend and participate in relevant study meetings and site initiation visits
Advise research team of issues that may impact study milestones in a timely manner
Liaise with facilities and departments within the IWK to ensure the day-to-day operations of the Challenge Unit
Ensure participants are engaged and supported while staying in the Challenge Unit

Hours of Work

Shifts can be 8 hours or 12 hours. Days evenings nights Holidays and weekends

Your Qualifications

Bachelors degree education in administration or health services/scientific field preferred. A combination of experience and diploma may be considered.
1 years of relevant experience within a university hospital or comparable environment in a research setting preferred.
Experience in customer service.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint MS Project) and Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Teams and other virtual platforms.
Strong interpersonal skills able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally.
Able to operate effectively tactfully and diplomatically with research team members and study participants.
Able to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals resolve problems and make decisions that enhance Center effectiveness.
Excellent communication skills; able to speak listen and write in a clear thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
Demonstrate a high level of time management and decision-making skills in setting priorities based on deadlines (both internal and external).
Organization skills and planning including developing a work schedule monitoring progress towards goals and tracking details data information and activities.
