Essential Job Functions
In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment analyzes assessment data creates a plan of care implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness; administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of South Carolina Nursing Practice Act and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures.
Provides leadership to staff in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction education empowerment recognition and stimulates innovative thinking; assesses and maintains staffing levels that are responsive to patient care needs and that optimizes productivity; provides staff with coaching and ongoing performance feedback; communicates job standards and expectations; leads regular meetings with employees and fosters environment for effective communication.
Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
Employment Qualifications
Minimum Education:
4 Year/ Bachelors Degree(preferred)
Specialty/Major:
Nursing (required)
Licensure/Certification Required:
Current nursing license in the State of South Carolina
BLS- through American Heart Association required.
Required Certifications by Nursing Department:
ICU/CVU: BLS and ACLS required or per RN Residency plan.
L&D: BLS ACLS NRP
Mother Infant/Neonatal Unit: BLS NRP
Licensure/Certification Preferred:
Hold national certification in clinical specialty or leadership within 6 months of eligibility.
Mother Infant/Neonatal Unit: S.T.A.B.L.E. preferred must obtain within 6 months of eligibility
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: At least one year of experience as a RN in clinical specialty
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: More than one year of experience as a RN in inpatient obstetrics (L&D Antepartum Postpartum or Level II Nursery).
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
