Overview

The DSA/MID Ambassador teams play a vital role in living our organizations mission: to create a healthy vibrant downtown for all. All Ambassadors are stewards of the public realm and help to make it an inviting and welcoming place for all. All Ambassador teams work with the following priority framework focusing on the three Cs: Clean Clear and Cared for. This means that all employees strive to maintain a visually appealing and safe environment for all by resolving clutter and disarray and caring for all people in the public realm in a friendly and positive manner. The downtown public realm should be high quality and consistent demonstrated through attentive oversight of the details in the public realm space and genuine care and concern for the people in the space.

Position Overview

The Service Trike Ambassador is responsible for but not limited to keeping the sidewalks curbs and other areas of the 300 square blocks of Seattles Metropolitan Improvement District spanning from Denny Way to Pioneer Square and from I-5 to the Waterfront clean and free of litter trash and other forms of debris. Service Trike Ambassadors will also be responsible for operating and maintaining a mechanized Rad Power Trike equipped with a pressure washer and cleaning supplies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ambassadors will be assigned to maintain a specific work area of 8 to 12 blocks in size.
  • Provide sanitation cleanup of alleys and sidewalks using a trike thats equipped with a power washer.
  • Sweep and remove litter from sidewalks curbs and other areas of public space.
  • Remove debris from curb line to prevent obstruction to the storm drains.
  • Locate and remove graffiti from buildings sidewalks and street fixtures.
  • Provide customer service to visitors businesspeople merchants and residents of downtown.
  • Communicate with coworkers and supervisors via radio dispatch to report location cleanups and facilitate problems.
  • Ability to operate and /or maintain mechanized equipment like blowers and bike equipment with power washers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to consistently exemplify MID/DSA core values: Collaboration Perseverance Innovation Excellence and Integrity.
  • Self-motivated energetic learner with growth mindset
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work in all public spaces in the downtown area.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Required to maintain a clean and neat appearance.
  • Must be able to provide a valid ID
  • Knowledge of Downtown Seattle and its community a plus.
  • Experience with pressure washing equipment a plus.
  • Must pass a bicycle riding assessment with an emphasis on low riding speeds.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work Environment - Work outdoors for the entirety of each shift in all weather conditions handling potentially hazardous waste.

Physical Demands Standing walking bending riding a trike 8-10 hours a day within a 12-mile radius. sweeping blowing power washing pushing around a garbage can lifting full garbage bags and other litter. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to ride a mechanized Rad Power Trike.

Employment Details

DSA is committed to internal and market equity. The hourly range for this position is $22.50 - 28.50. Salary is determined based on internal and market equity internal and market data/salary ranges and the applicants job-related knowledge skills and experience. We will hire at the beginning of the salary range to allow future salary growth based on an employees performance professional development and increases in responsibilities and duties. Schedule:

Team 6: Tuesday- Saturday Tuesday-Friday 6:30 am- 3 pm Saturday 7 am- 3:30 pm
