Job Summary
Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union is accepting applications for two part time bus monitors.#1 Barstow Bus 2 1.50 AM only#1 Barstow Bus 2 1.50 PM only#2 Special Education van 1 hour PM only 2:30-3:30The School Bus Monitor is responsible for assisting bus drivers in providing on-going and emergency support to students (both ambulatory and non-ambulatory) while riding loading and unloading the school bus to ensure the safety of all FUNCTIONS: Monitors students while on bus; maintains safety and order on the bus. Assists with the loading and unloading of students on/off the bus; Provides special assistance to students in wheelchairs including operating the lift and strapping andsecuring wheelchairs on vehicle. (Bus Monitor-IS ) Assists bus driver with routes directions and while the vehicle is driving in reverse. Provides assistance during emergencies evacuation planning and drills; provides knowledge andoperates emergency window exits. Maintains confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their :High School Diploma or GED REQUIREMENTS:Ability to utilize software applications applicable to the essential functions and biweekly DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:In general a moderate degree of physical and emotional stamina. Work is typically performed inside and around the exterior of a school bus and may include temperature extremes and some hazardous driving conditions. Employees must have the physical stamina health and flexibility necessary to bend stretch crouch kneel stoop lift pull push and climb; daily bending stooping crawling and climbing to inspect on and under seats. Frequent and prolonged sitting with repetitive hand and arm motions. Possess near/far visual acuity/depth perception. Ability to hear normal sounds with background noise as in using a telephone or radio The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
