About the Role

The Executive Officer to the Chairperson plays a vital role in supporting the leadership and governance functions of the Northern Land Council (NLC). Working directly with the Chairperson youll provide high-level executive and administrative support to ensure the effective coordination of Council business stakeholder engagement and strategic priorities.

In this position youll manage the Chairs schedule prepare correspondence and briefings accompany the Chair to official meetings and travel and follow up on key actions to ensure effective outcomes. You will coordinate Council-related projects and policy research ensuring accuracy compliance and cultural sensitivity in all matters handled by the Office of the Chair.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment enjoys working at the intersection of governance policy and Aboriginal affairs and is committed to supporting the NLCs mission of representing Traditional Owners and Aboriginal people across the Top End.

What You Will Bring

You are a proactive professional communicator with strong organisational and governance skills capable of managing sensitive matters with discretion and diplomacy. You can balance strategic priorities with day-to-day operations and work confidently alongside senior leaders Council members and external stakeholders.

In addition you will have:

  • Minimum 4 years experience in a similar executive support or governance role
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance preferably within Aboriginal organisations statutory authorities or government
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information and competing priorities under pressure
  • Degree in Law Public Policy or Indigenous Studies (or equivalent) Highly desirable

  • Abase salary of $102674per annum plus15% superannuationandsalary sacrificingup to $15900 Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2650 per year.
  • Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
    • District allowanceof up to $4797 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2630 without dependents.
    • 5weeks annual leave leaving loading 18 days personal leave;
    • Paid Christmasclose down;
    • Upon completion of 12 months of service anAnnual airfarewith a net (in hand) value of $3177
