Job Summary

The University of Chicagos Department of Pediatrics Section of Academic Pediatrics is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. Appointees will provide consultation within an established interdisciplinary process and participate in court-related activities as needed; support the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Education and Evaluation Consortium (MPEEC) program by providing real-time expert medical consultation to child welfare and law enforcement for a mandated population of children who are reported for serious harm; train pediatric residents during their required one-month rotation; provide lectures and grand rounds to regional hospitals and medical centers as well as community partners such as state attorneys law enforcement and child welfare investigators; and participate in hospital committee efforts such as quality improvement projects and programmatic and policy development related to child abuse medicine. These activities will occur at the University of Chicagos Comer Childrens Hospital and affiliated sites. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students and scholarly activity.

Comer Childrens Hospital is an integrated childrens hospital that offers a full complement of pediatric services with a total of 172 general pediatric NICU and PICU beds. The Department of Pediatrics includes over 170 full-time faculty members and postdoctoral addition to teaching medical students residents and fellows our faculty conducts cutting-edge translational and clinical research.

The Comer Childrens Child Advocacy and Protective Services (CAPS) program established in 1991 has a national reputation as a leader in the medical care of abused and neglected children. CAPS is primarily a hospital-based consultation service. The core CAPS team includes two board-certified physicians a physician assistant a clinical social worker and full-time administrative support. More information about the CAPS program can be found at
MPEEC is a national landmark program that has received state support for over 18 years and is managed by CAPS staff with case coordination supported by a full-time investigations coordinator.
