Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Highway Verge Mowing

Based at Cleveland Street GM Depot (Transport)

42hrs (summer) 27 (winter) week. Average of 36 hrs.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a GM Supervisor as part of the Grounds Maintenance Highways verge team within Parks & Countryside.

The successful applicant will lead a Grounds Maintenance mobile grass cutting team responsible for maintaining and improving the standard of a designated grass cutting round. The role will include management of grounds maintenance operational staff and work with Friends groups and other organisations and will be based in our depot at Cleveland Street Birkenhead.

We are looking for a keen enthusiastic self-motivated person experienced in this type of work capable of working and liaising with a wide diversity of people and experience in the following:

  • developing and promoting Highway Verge mowing.
  • working to scheduled work that has been set by managers.
  • dealing with the public and voluntary groups.

About the candidate:

The successful candidate will identify and deliver specified on the job training for staff.

Making sure that all team members are wearing corporate uniform and appropriate P.P.E.

Carry out the management and implementation of the Councils policies including:

  • Disciplinary Grievance Sickness and Capability through HR Self-serve.
  • Monitor and ensure day to day maintenance of all plant and machinery.
  • To assist the Local Team Leader in the inspection of machinery to include effective record-keeping.
  • Raise the quality and improve the image of Wirrals highway verges and open spaces in line with current Strategic Plan and Strategic Policy.
  • Above all you will be looking to improve the way we engage with our employees/residents/customers to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.
