Job Summary

Are you an experienced plumbing or drainage professional with a knack for problem-solving and a passion for community service We are seeking a dedicated Hydraulics Investigation Officer to join our team and play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our Councils stormwater systems.

In this hands-on role you will investigate and resolve seepage soakage and related stormwater complaints support maintenance programs coordinate minor projects and work closely with contractors and property owners. Your expertise will help ensure effective stormwater asset management and improved service delivery for our community.

About the role:
As the Hydraulics Investigation Officer you will:

  • Investigate and resolve complaints regarding seepage soakage water quality and related issues.
  • Conduct water and dye testing use CCTV and push cameras to assess stormwater and sewer systems.
  • Collaborate with TasWater property owners and internal teams to promote effective solutions.
  • Issue defect notices work orders and manage administrative tasks to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Assist in developing and implementing maintenance programs to optimise asset life and reduce complaints.
  • Support stormwater connection installations and maintain flood early warning and landslip monitoring systems.
  • Coordinate and manage minor stormwater infrastructure projects including patching drain cleaning relining and condition surveys.
  • Maintain accurate asset records within the Councils asset management system and assist with rectification where needed.
  • Investigate and manage internal stormwater and sewer infiltration cross connections leaks and blockages.
  • Assist with CCTV operation and data management related to stormwater asset condition surveys.

    About you:
    Youll bring:

    • Trade qualification in Plumbing with 3 years experience in hydraulics services (plumbing and drainage) or over 5 years experience in drainage utility maintenance environments.
    • Knowledge of Local Government operations and/or Tasmanian plumbing codes and Council By-Laws.
    • Strong organisational written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities self-motivation and effective time management.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
    • Tasmanian Drivers License

      Position Details:

      • Full-time (76 hours fortnight).
      • 9-day fortnight because life happens outside of work too.
