Job Description

Job Summary
Team Lead Line Clearance and Inspection plans prioritizes and monitors work functions associated with the inspecting and vegetation control activities of the electrical distribution and substation general plant.

What you will do
  • Performs all leadership duties including but not limited to hiring and rewarding talent fostering an inclusive and safe workplace partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations providing timely and specific feedback on performance developing improvement plans to address performance gaps addressing conflict with care and respect identifying opportunities for growth and development embracing and modeling a mindset of lifelong learning ensuring employees report to work fit for duty adhering to our Code of Conduct and modeling Alliant Energys Core Values at all times.
  • Develops schedules for distribution line clearance work and transmission rights-of-way (ROW) maintenance.
  • Matches crew skills size and equipment to scheduled work by monitoring job progress and productivity to maximize efficiencies and crew performance for scheduling purposes.
  • Makes scheduling adjustments as necessary and inputs performance measurement data into systems.
  • Checks field work to assure adherence to specifications and guidelines.
  • Ensures personnel adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Monitors crew recordkeeping of line clearance data by conducting field audits.
  • Reviews the daily pesticide application reports to verify state requirements are met.
  • Establishes undergrowth management programs and identifies areas for herbicide treatments.
  • Demonstrates a leadership role in the area of safety.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energys Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred

Required Experience
  • 3 years of technical and/or professional experience

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in a utility related right-of-way maintenance process

Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.

  • This job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49 Parts 40 and 199) and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of utility regulatory requirements and codes (e.g. FERC NEC NESC PSCW IUB etc.).
  • Knowledge of electrical system operations maintenance and construction practices preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise employees in multiple geographic locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g. e-mail word processing spreadsheet and project management).
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
