Main Responsibilities
Contribute to the work of the team on short-term indicators and the TPS division.
- Contribute to the revamping of the Composite Leading Indicators (CLIs) including identifying and implementing changes to the methodology and setting up an automatic process for regular updates of the CLIs.
- Update databases maintained by the short-term team including financial and monetary statistics business and consumer tendency surveys and real economic indicators.
- Contribute to the re-engineering of the data factory aiming at modernising the data collection as appropriate.
- Keep abreast on the literature on business cycles and seasonal adjustments.
- Update the Dashboard of short-term indicators and associated communication as appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of tools products presentations and other communication materials to disseminate data indicators and analytical results.
Communication liaison and other duties
- Liaise with countries other international organisations and other experts in the OECD and act as a focal point for countries on the maintenance updating and further development of relevant databases.
- Represent the OECD in international meetings attend webinars and internal meetings to present OECD work and share insights.
- Contribute to the organisation of technical workshops.
- Contribute to other data-related or analytical projects that may arise within the biennium.
Qualifications :
Ideal Candidate Profile
Academic Background
- An advanced university degree or equivalent qualification in statistics econometrics economics or a related field. A PhD would be an advantage.
Professional Background
- At least two years of relevant experience in working in the production of policy-relevant statistics or in undertaking in-depth empirical analysis gained in national administration research organisation and/or international organisation.
- Good knowledge of the literature on business cycles.
- Experience in undertaking econometrics/machine learning analysis and in developing appropriate analysis to strengthen the evidence base. Experience in webscarpping or network analysis would also be an asset.
- Excellent drafting skills.
- Experience with data visualisation and in summarising complex datasets to communicate key messages to non-expert audiences would be an advantage.
Tools
- Excellent programming skills (e.g. Python and R).
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel Word Powerpoint).
- Good knowledge of visualisation tools (Power BI R Shiny OECD Chart Builder) would be an advantage.
