2-month contract role with a local authority
Summary
- This is a 2-month contract role with a local authority focused on development management. The position aims to achieve quality planning decisions promptly and ensure compliance with relevant conditions. The role involves providing planning advice managing a caseload of planning applications including complex and major applications and attending Planning Committees to present agenda items and represent the service.
Responsibilities
- Act as case officer on complex and controversial planning applications including appeals.
- Project manage strategic development sites in line with legislation policies and guidance.
- Attend Planning Committee and other meetings as required.
- Conduct site inspections and attend site meetings including formal Committee Site Visits.
- Allocate work according to the councils scheme of delegation.
- Sign off decisions made by other officers within your team.
- Deputize for Development Manager/Team Leaders as needed.
- Prepare appeal statements proofs of evidence and statements of common ground; attend Public Inquiries and Hearings as the Authoritys Planning Witness.
Essential Experience Required
- Ability to understand and promote the Councils vision and priorities.
- Experience in handling major development proposals and leading planning negotiations.
- Ability to lead take ownership of tasks and accept responsibility for outcomes.
- Effective customer care skills including managing customer expectations.
Essential Qualification Required
- Degree Post-Graduate or Masters in Planning or a related subject.
- Eligible for Membership of RTPI.
Additional Information
- Hybrid working: Staff are required to be in the office one day a week and conduct their own site visits.
- location: East Team (Scarborough and Malton)
