Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of Australias national measurement capabilities by supporting the digital infrastructure that underpins scientific laboratories. The role is based at Lindfield (NSW) North Ryde (NSW) or Port Melbourne (VIC) site where you will work closely with scientists technicians and ICT professionals to enhance the performance and usability of the air gapped Local Area Network (LAN).

You will play a key role in bridging the gap between laboratory operations and digital systems helping to modernise workflows improve data management practices and ensure that laboratory software and systems are optimally configured and maintained. This position offers a dynamic and collaborative environment where your contributions will directly support Australias scientific and industrial innovation.

Your work will involve engaging with laboratory staff to understand their operational needs mapping data flows managing software inventories and supporting the implementation of digital solutions that improve efficiency and reliability. You will also contribute to the development of procedures and documentation that support sustainable and secure digital practices across the organisation.



Requirements

Key duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will work under broad direction and with appropriate technical ICT systems and business change management support contributing to the uplift of the air gapped Local Area Network. You will work in consultation with the ICT staff laboratory and management teams.

The Key responsibilities include:

1. Engage with testing laboratories to develop and implement work practices and associated procedures to leverage the air gapped Local Area Network. Support will be provided for business change management activities.

2. Mapping of data flows and storage developing a current state understanding of where and how data is stored.

3. Report and present on solution uptake and issues to management and staff user forums. This includes contributing to ICT project governance reporting.

4. Interact with laboratory users and software vendors to create and maintain a register of current software and licences to allow for planning and supporting procurement activities.

Essential criteria

experience (minimum of 3 years) supporting the delivery of IT enhancement projects. Such experience may relate to instrument control software data mapping and storage workflow management or information management systems.

self-motivation and organisational skills combined with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills working autonomously under very broad direction.

ability to work collaboratively in a team and demonstrated experience of negotiation and influence to establish and maintain productive working relationships with management as well as operational staff and vendors.

communication skills particularly for engaging with a diverse range of laboratory staff report and technical writing.

in supporting ICT operations in scientific laboratories either as an analyst or support role.

have an active Baseline AGSVA security clearance (at time of potential interview).

Desirable criteria

qualifications in either chemistry/biology/physics/engineering/ICT areas are desirable.

in Software Development Cyber Security and Data Analysis is desirable.

in Scientific Laboratory Standards and accreditations (i.e. TGA NATA) is desirable.




Required Skills:

Essential criteria 1. A track record of delivering technology products in large organisations 2. A demonstrated understanding of what makes for a great developer experience for external users 3. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams that follow agile and user-centred design practices 4. Experience working on large Government transformation programs highly regarded Desirable criteria 1. Knowledge experience of and relationships with the agriculture technology industry 2. Delivery of technology to support regulatory decision-making processes 3. Experience delivering to the Australian Government Digital Service Standard
