Job Summary

Our client a leading provider in the Healthcare sector is looking to fill the consulting position of Data Scientist (project-based consultancy).

Scope of Engagement:

This position is a project-based consultancy or fixed term contract role. The successful candidate is responsible for delivering the outcomes outlined below independently. Services may involve a combination of remote and on-site engagement at the companys venues as required for project deliverables.

Purpose of the Role:

To apply advanced statistical modelling GIS analysis programming and mathematics to extract actionable insights from healthcare data enabling improved decision-making resource allocation and patient care outcomes across multiple venues.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Strategy:

  • Develop predictive models incorporating spatial operational and clinical data.
  • Use GIS mapping to identify referral patterns coverage gaps and service demand areas.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to management and clinical teams.

Finance & Data Management:

  • Analyse cost structures and optimise resource utilisation using statistical and mathematical methods.
  • Integrate GIS data with operational and financial datasets for holistic analysis.

Customer Centricity:

  • Ensure analytics outcomes align with improving patient experience and accessibility.

Governance:

  • Ensure all data handling meets healthcare compliance standards.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation of analytical methods and model assumptions.

Systems Technology and Equipment:

  • Work with IT to integrate advanced GIS and analytics tools into operational systems.
  • Use Python R and SQL for analysis modelling and automation.

Operations:

  • Create interactive dashboards combining statistical and GIS visualisations.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and forecast future trends.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 Senior Certificate
  • Bachelors degree in data science statistics or related quantitative field
  • 3 - 5 years demonstrated experience in GIS programming mathematics and statistics
  • Demonstrated experience and detailed understanding of source to target mapping
  • Microsoft Office products
  • Customer service experience
  • Working in healthcare would be beneficial.

Technical Competencies:

  • GIS (ArcGIS QGIS or equivalent)
  • Programming (Python R SQL)
  • Machine learning algorithms and statistical modelling
  • Data visualization (Power BI Tableau Matplotlib Seaborn)
