Two exciting new opportunities have arisen within the Waste Contracts and Haulage team at Leicestershire County Council.

We are looking to recruit 2 x Principal Waste Contracts Officers both with an overarching focus on the management of key high value waste management contracts whilst supporting the operation and development of our waste services.

Both roles play a strategic and supportive function working alongside the Team Manager(s) with one role focused on the operation and development of the haulage service the other focussed on the operation and development of our waste disposal contracts.

About the Role

Were looking for proactive and commercially minded individuals to join our team ready to take the lead on important waste contracts and help deliver reliable cost-effective waste and haulage services.

Both roles require:

  • A flexible can do attitude
  • Strong financial and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in contract and service management ideally in the waste sector
  • Knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience for the role in which they are applying.

Youll also help drive innovation and efficiency across the service contributing to future service development and major procurement projects.

Furthermore you will be able to take the lead on major services development and procurement exercises.

In both cases you should have a good understanding of the rules policies and procedures that help manage waste services smoothly and efficiently.

About You

To apply for this post you must:

  • Hold a relevant degree and/or equivalent experience in contract procurement and have chartered status of relevant professional organisation (eg CIWM CILT)
  • Have significant experience inprocurement and management of waste contractsor similar high-value service contracts and/or in the case of the haulage focused role experience in the operation of waste haulage services or equivalent service including managing and developing a team of staff.
  • Understand and have experience in budget management forecasting and reporting for significant budgets.
  • Be able to interpret and create technical/non-technical reports and advise stakeholders accordingly.
  • Be able to engage with stakeholders including meetings exhibitions and the media
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of waste management waste operations and relevant legislation.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication negotiation skills and a willingness to travel across the county as required.

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.
