Precision Medicine BioAnalytical and Translational Sciences (PMBATS) has multiple internships for qualified candidates to work alongside PMBATS teams by contributing to development and execution of biomarker/BA process laboratory experiments enable our mission of providing technology solutions for BMS development assets. We have opportunities in:

  • Translational Pathology and Immunohistochemistry (TP-IHC) team seeks a motivated inquisitive intern to join a collaborative team translating tissue-based data into clinical insights that guide delivery of therapies to patients most likely to benefit. You will support biomarker discovery and translational research through assay development image analysis and supervised experimentation using cutting-edge technologies while learning in a matrixed environment and presenting results to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Molecular Assay Development team seeks a highly motivated scientist to support the design development and validation of genetics/genomics biomarker workflows for clinical and translational sample analysis while applying strong lab practices and learning new methods. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to implement workflows evaluate novel genomics technologies and contribute to biomarker strategy discussions.
  • The Clinical Flow Cytometry team seeks a summer intern to join an industry-leading team leveraging state-of-the-art cytometers and systems to develop optimize validate and execute assays supporting new drug this role you will gain hands-on experience operating modern instruments analyzing data and contributing to clinical biomarker studies that advance new medicines.
  • The Imaging team seeks a summer intern to contribute to an independent project using cutting-edge medical imaging to deepen understanding of disease biology (oncology immuno-sciences cardiovascular fibrosis) and medicine mechanisms contributing to automated image segmentation and analysis workflows. You will gain hands-on image analysis experience and collaborate with preclinical and clinical imaging teams and a multidisciplinary group of engineers chemists biologists and clinicians; enthusiasm for learning in a research setting is key even with limited prior experience.
  • The bioanalytical team seeks a motivated summer intern to work with using cutting edge high-resolution mass spectrometer to develop analytical methods to quantify drugs in biological matrices. You will gain hands-on experience at the interface of protein chemistry and analytical science with state-of-the-art HRMS and automation platforms collaborate across disciplines and communicate results in a high-impact research environment.
  • The Protein Bioanalytical and Material Sciences team is seeking a summer intern to contribute to the design and execution of biomarker and pharmacokinetic ligand binding assay studies using cutting-edge technology to support drug development. The intern will gain hands-on experience in method development and exploration of novel technologies for neutralizing antibody cell assays and clinical biomarker ligand binding assays.

The full-time internships will take place June - August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute molecular biochemical and cell biology experiments (e.g. cell culture immunofluorescence immunoprecipitation Western blotting RNA isolation sample preparation HPLC mass spectrometry) in accordance with SOPs and good laboratory practices.
  • Analyze interpret and discuss experimental data under supervision ensuring accurate documentation of methods results and deviations.
  • Troubleshoot experimental issues and implement corrective actions with guidance to maintain data quality and continuity.
  • Understand assigned responsibilities and perform tasks reliably under supervision adhering to safety and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development optimization and validation of methods and assays under supervision.
  • Apply general laboratory techniques and maintain equipment inventories and a clean organized workspace.
  • Communicate progress and findings clearly to multidisciplinary stakeholders.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate bachelors degree program at least a sophomore or junior majoring in the life sciences with an interest in a healthcare career.
  • Foundational laboratory skills (e.g. pipetting solution preparation aseptic technique).
  • Ability to follow SOPs and laboratory protocols under supervision.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support experimental design and technical troubleshooting.
  • Fundamental knowledge of biology and chemistry.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and aptitude for rapidly learning laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Effective time management and prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Reviewing literature for technical and scientific support.

This is a temporary time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $29.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment such as demonstrated experience required skill and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.

Compensation Overview:

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job such as required skills where the job is performed the employees work schedule job-related knowledge and experience. Final individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
