We are seeking an Engagement Specialist / Recovery Coach.

Recovery Coach

The Recovery Coach will assist individuals in understanding and accessing substance use disorder services. The Recovery Coach will model competency in recovery and demonstrate on-going coping skills. The Recovery Coach will bring their lived experience and peer perspective to the Treatment and Support Court (multidisciplinary) Team.

When working as part of the Mobile Crisis Response Team: A Recovery Coach will work in conjunction with clinicians to provide crisis intervention services in homes shelters doctors offices and emergency departments schools treatment facilities Adult Foster Care Homes and other community locations. The coach will be responsible for completing seven-day follow-up contact with individuals who receive crisis intervention services from the Mobile Crisis Response Team.

This position is 16 hours a week 6:00 am to 2:00 pm every other Saturday and Sunday There are no on call or holiday requirements for this position. This assignment is in-person at Mel Trotter Ministries - 225 Commerce Ave SW Grand Rapids MI 49503.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Certified Peer Recovery Mentor or willingness to create a plan to obtain State Certification as a Peer Recovery Mentor within two years of employment.
• In stable recovery.
• Actively participating in a recovery program (12 step church/spiritual or other recovery support group).
• Possession of a valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
• Knowledge about substance use disorders as it pertains to recovery and crisis planning.
• Work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities.
• Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Good problem-solving skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR RECOVERY COACH:

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• At least two years relevant work experience which may include volunteer work.
• Actively working in a recovery program (12 step church/spiritual or other recovery support group).
• State of Michigan Certified Peer Recovery Coach or be eligible to become certified by the State as a Peer Recovery Coach which requires an individual to have:
• Long-term stable recovery from alcohol and other drugs ;
• Able to identify with another individual based on their shared life experiences to promote recovery by removing barriers and obstacles to recovery;
• Has been a recipient of mental health and/or substance abuse services for at least one year with a substantial life disruption due to their substance abuse condition;
• Have personal experience with navigating complex substance abuse treatment services.
• Possession of a valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
• Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
• Knowledge and skills sufficient for establishing effective relationships with consumers who have a substance use disorder their families and team members.
• Knowledge about substance use disorders as it pertains to recovery and crisis planning.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Good problem-solving skills.
