Description

This position is responsible for a wide range of duties within the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area including organizing MSNHA-sponsored events coordinating volunteer opportunities with the MSNHA and partners & managing other MSNHA opportunities such as coordinating the Tennessee RiverLine programs in the Shoals and directing recreation-focused/trail development MSNHA projects.

*This position is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon funding by the sponsoring agency.*

Essential Job Duties

  • Organize events focused onthe MSNHA three themes: River Music and Native heritage;
  • Serve as a liaison for the Shoals Tennessee River Towns program Keep the Shoals Beautiful and other similar organizations across the MSNHAs six counties;
  • Participate in existing MSNHA programs including Operation Pollination Tennessee RiverTowns Hidden Spaces Roots of American Music Rolling on the River & the League of Outdoor Women;
  • Plan develop and implement programs annually in assigned areas;
  • Create promotional material independently and/or work with graphic artists on layout of material;
  • Develop social media posts/blogs/newsletter articles about MSNHA events andprograms;
  • Assist with website contentdevelopment;
  • Assist organizations within the MSHNAs six counties seek apply for and implement external grantfunding;
  • Seek apply for and implement external funding for MSHNAs programs &projects;
  • Develop & direct new programs to promote MSHNA development and community engagement within the MSHNAs six counties;
  • Work with other UNA departments advisory committees and/or other organizations on joint projects and ensure projects proceed smoothly;
  • Document volunteer and personal activity for reporting to the National Park Service;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree isrequired;
  • Experience working with volunteers and in a volunteer capacity is required;
  • Background in public history outdoor recreation historic preservation or other field related to MSNHAs mission is preferred.

LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Current valid drivers license required;
  • CPR/AED certifications are preferred.

KNOWLEDGESKILLSAND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of UNA policies procedures and services;
  • Ability to prioritize and assign tasks;
  • Ability to carry out large-scale projects with minimal direction;
  • Ability to work independently and as a teammate with outstanding interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive under pressure of changing priorities and unanticipated urgent demands;
  • Skills in communicating effectively (verbally and in writing) with diverse constituents and cultures associated to effectively and courteously exchange or convey information and receive work direction;
  • Skills inproofreading;
  • Ability to analyze data;
  • Digital literacy skills to support management functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (with an emphasis on Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook) and Zoom/MS Teams;
  • Ability to organize public events;
  • Ability to coordinate a large number of volunteers.
