Job Description

The Myers-Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC) is seeking applicants for a Collegiate Assistant Professor with teaching and research expertise in construction safety health and well-being to begin Fall 2026 in Blacksburg VA. This position is a nine-month full-time appointment responsible for teaching research and service. There is an expectation to teach courses in the safety leadership major and to pursue and/or support safety-related research and innovation with scholarly outputs.

Required Qualifications

A doctoral degree in construction or a closely related discipline by the appointment start date
Demonstrated expertise in construction safety health and/or well-being e.g as demonstrated by scholarly output and/or professional practice
Documented experience with teaching and/or leading professional development workshops

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of teaching effectiveness in higher education e.g. through teaching evaluations
Evidence of a commitment to service
Record of publications in peer-reviewed outlets
Evidence of safety-related sponsored research
Safety certifications and training such as OSHA CSP

Overtime Status

Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
