What you will be doing:


Reporting to the Director of Media Production the Senior Videographer / Video Editor plays a vital role in the Media Production Department (MPD). This position is responsible for the technical execution of video and still photography projects across all stagespre-production production and post-productionwhile also contributing to creative development and general production coordination.


The Senior Videographer / Video Editor collaborates closely with the Director of Media Production and MPD team members to create and elevate content that supports SDIs mission and engages diverse addition to executing shoots and editing high-quality media this individual helps manage and maintain studio resources supports teammates and ensures projects are delivered to the highest standard. The role also involves researching and adopting new industry trends and technologies to enhance efficiency creativity and innovation throughout the production process.


  • Operate video cameras as a cinematographer including recording audio and video setting up lighting schemes and using specialty equipment to stylize shots while taking direction from the Director of Media Production.
  • Edit media projects by assembling refining and finishing contemporary audience-appropriate content that engages prospective students current students alumni and partners.
  • Collaborate with creative partners on concept creation including live action screen-captured footage title creation motion graphics sound design music edits and sound mixing through project completion.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges in production and post-production to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
  • Serve as photographer for occasional still photo shoots including planning lighting equipment setup and capturing images according to project specifications.
  • Perform limited post-production work on still photography when required.
  • Mentor lead or guide team members sharing knowledge and expertise to help develop and enhance their skills.
  • Up to 10% travel

Requirements

What were looking for:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associates degree or higher in communications art film broadcast audio media production or related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of four years of experience in professional video editing motion graphics and post-production creating engaging content for television digital platforms social media or marketing initiatives; must present a strong editing portfolio.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in professional videography and cinematography including camera operation for both scripted and unscripted projects; must present a strong portfolio demonstrating creative and technical expertise.
  • Proven experience in content creation storytelling and digital cinematography including creative video and audio recording lighting framing and on-set media management.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects with working knowledge of motion graphics color correction LUTs and sound editing.
  • Skilled in operating professional digital video cameras and accessories (e.g. Sony FX6 Blackmagic GoPro RED) and troubleshooting related technical issues.
  • Strong editorial and organizational abilities demonstrating effective project management asset organization and timely delivery in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a small dynamic team.
  • Highly motivated adaptable and eager to learn with a willingness to take initiative wear multiple hats and stay ahead of evolving industry tools and trends.
