IMC is currently hiring a LPN Inpatient Rehab who isresponsible for rendering safe nursing care to patients; supervisingdirecting and monitoring the nursing care assigned to her/him; administeringmedications performing venipuncture bladder/bowel management assisting inthe supervision and training of CNAs; and performs related duties and usingthe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physicalpsycho/social education safety and related criteria for the adult and geriatric population.


EDUCATION

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • Current license as an LPN in the state of Louisiana.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the nursing process and nursing principles.
  • Knowledge of anatomy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates respect for patients and families.
  • Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care
  • Applies the nursing process to each patient and implements nursing actions
  • Identifies patient and family education needs and in collaboration with other disciplines initiates education needs according to the age of the patient.
  • Participates in planning of patients discharge needs and readiness for discharge.
  • Participates in departmental and hospital improvement plan
  • Functions as a positive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of Iberia Medical Center
  • Maintains confidentiality security and integrity of patient and organizational data
  • Consistently lives by the Iberia Medical Center Standards of Performance
  • Adheres to the Patient Safety Goals

Physical andEnvironmental Demands

Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionallyand/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of forceconstantly to move objects.(Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) tomove objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for SedentaryWork. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount a jobshould be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to asignificant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time butentails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the jobrequires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushingand/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials isnegligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a productionrate pace especially in an industrial setting can be and is physicallydemanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood bodyfluid and tissue.

The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an areawhere patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimensthat could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk forexposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare settingthere may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications orhazardous waste within the environment through receipt transport storagepreparation dispensing administration cleaning and/or disposal ofcontaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on theessential job duties of the role.
