About the Role

Were hiring a people manager who codes to join our API delivery squad. This is a dual role: youll be the line manager for a group engineers and an active contributor in the squad. Youll collaborate closely with our Scrum Master Product Owner and the technical leadership to deliver reliable secure integrations while supporting the growth and cohesion of your engineering group aligned with the direction set by our Engineering Excellence team and program leadership.

What youll lead (people)

  • Own growth and performance for your engineers: regular 1:1s actionable feedback clear development plans performance & salary reviews; set clear expectations and address performance issues early with care and clarity.

  • Support a healthy inclusive engineering culture within your engineering group focusing on psychological safety sustainable pace and continuous improvement in alignment with the principles and practices defined by the Engineering Excellence team.

  • Plan capacity and hire in partnership with Talent Acquisition and relevant tech leadership; ensure smooth onboarding/offboarding and succession readiness.

  • Champion engineering practices within your engineering group (CI/CD test automation trunk-based development observability).

What youll build (engineering)

  • Design build and /C# APIs and services on Azure following API-first secure and privacy-conscious design practices with a strong attention to data protection and compliance (e.g. GDPR DORA)..

  • Contribute to design reviews code reviews test automation (unit/contract/integration/E2E) and deployments via Azure DevOps.

  • Improve reliability with monitoring logging and alerting; participate in incident reviews and operational readiness.

  • Collaborate across squads and platforms (.NET Azure Databricks) to deliver scalable maintainable integrations.

About the team & mission

Join a central integration squad at the heart of our transformation migrating the Mobility (Car Insurance) portfolio onto a Guidewire-based core system. Our integration and data platforms are built on Microsoft and Databricks. Your work will unlock safe high-quality change across multiple products and squads.

Who you are

  • Previous line-management experience (or equivalent formal people-lead responsibilities such as hiring performance/salary reviews and coaching).

  • Comfortable giving and receiving candid feedback; able to coach both senior and junior engineers.

  • A engineer who enjoys enabling others and working across teams.

  • Strong experience in C#/.NET for APIs/microservices and Azure services/integration patterns.

  • Solid grasp of the test pyramid and delivery through Azure DevOps (CI/CD feature toggles trunk-based).

  • Comfortable with IaC monitoring and logging; value production quality as much as delivery speed.

  • A collaborative humble leader who gives clarity sets expectations and grows people.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering (or similar).
