Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and talented Early Career Teacher of Music to join a high-achieving secondary school in Gloucester from January 2026. This is a full-time permanent position offering a nurturing environment for an ECT looking to begin their teaching career within a school that values creativity teamwork and professional growth.

About the Role
As a Music ECT you will teach Music across KS3KS5 fostering students creativity performance skills and musical appreciation. Working closely with a supportive and experienced Head of Department you will have access to high-quality mentoring structured induction support and opportunities to refine your classroom practice through observation reflection and collaboration.

The school is proud of its strong performing arts culture and you will play an important role in sustaining that by directing ensembles organising performances and encouraging students to explore a wide range of musical styles. The department uses a blend of traditional instruments and digital technology ensuring students receive a broad modern and engaging music education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver well-structured inspiring lessons across KS3KS5 that support both performance and theoretical understanding.

  • Prepare and assess students for GCSE and A-Level qualifications developing their analytical and compositional skills.

  • Lead or assist with school ensembles choirs and musical productions.

  • Use digital software notation tools and recording equipment effectively in teaching.

  • Contribute to whole-school events concerts and open evenings that celebrate the arts.

  • Engage fully with the schools ECT induction and professional development programme.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Music ECT with QTS/PGCE.

  • Degree in Music Music Education or a closely related discipline.

  • Strong practical and/or vocal performance ability.

  • A passion for inspiring young musicians and promoting creativity.

  • Excellent communication organisation and time-management skills.

  • Legal right to work in the UK.
